Government revenue comes from several main sources. These include taxes such as income tax and General Consumption Tax (GCT), fees and licenses, borrowing, and grants from international partners.
Taxes paid by individuals and businesses make up the largest share of government income. Borrowing allows the government to fund large expenses but must be repaid over time, often with interest. Grants usually come with conditions and are meant for specific purposes.
Understanding where government money comes from helps citizens recognize that public funds are limited and that spending decisions involve trade-offs.
